Magazine Adverts

From this task I have learnt more about how bands brand themselves in the press. And more importantly how magazine adverts are different from Digipaks, this can be seen in the photographs. Digipaks tend to be more graphical, digital art and large fonts where as magazine adverts seam to features pictures of the band members in different positions and in the 2 by 2 photo lay out.

Research Into Digipaks

From this task I have gained an understanding of how digipaks of the Punk genre look like. I have also begun to think about what my digipak will look like and I will take the most influence from "The Jam - Snap!" digipak. I also like the extra messages and quotes that feature on "The Clash - Hits Back" I plan to have some sort of message like that on the digipak for my band.

Tracking An Artist Throughout Their Career

The Jam changed their image over time, they first started off trying to be like The Clash and The Sex Pistols wanting destruction and revolution. But developed their beliefs into calling for change in attitude towards life and crime. Calling back for a forgotten British culture that were unrepresented in popular culture.

From this task I have learnt how much a band can change their whole political and social opinions by representing culture throughout their career. I have also learnt that a band might start of in one place and by the time their final albums are released they will have ended up in a completely different place than they could of imagined.

Music Video Channels

From this task I have learnt how the music industry works behind the scenes, I have also discovered how important it is that I create music video that would be viral so that the band would be more likely to be noticed.

Analysis Of Previous Students Work

From analyzing previous students work I have learnt how important the planning stage of the music video is and how important it is to also carry out the things you plan. This reduces the chances of bad editing, lighting and composition. Locations are also incredibly important as they need to fit the conventions of the Genre and not look out of place.
